“Let’s celebrate life’s special moments together with the Tower Light Projection. In an art installation like no other, the Basel skyline will be illuminated with precious moments from around the world to celebrate 125 years of improving lives.”

My approach to the brief was an experimental one. I wanted to celebrate life by quite literally bringing the building to life by giving it skin. The projection moves from light colour skin tones to dark ones. The variety of skin swatches and the movement of these from top to bottom aim to bring out Roche’s commitment to diversity and unity.

I embrace the hairy, scabby, ‘imperfect’ and uneven nature of skin. To bring out the raw nature of skin, I coupled it with an audio of me drawing with charcoal on paper. The comparison of the human scans of skin with audio visualisation on Adobe Audition are very interesting to me.
